NEW YORK THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS ANNOUNCE NEW GUIDELINES FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Dear Student:

If you are interested in applying for a scholarship awarded by the New York Thoroughbred Breeders, Inc. (“NYTB”) please review and follow the information and guidelines set forth below.

The scholarships of the NYTB are awarded by the Board of Directors and are based upon the recommendations of the Education Committee of the NYTB. The scholarship program was established in 2001 to assist students in their pursuit of an equine related course of study. The scholarships are funded by the auction of stallion seasons donated by NYTB Members, New York thoroughbred farms and friends of NYTB.

Generally, the NYTB has awarded scholarships up to $1,000 for first year undergraduate students and up to $2,500 for second year undergraduate students and above. However, the number and amounts of the scholarships to be awarded each year will depend upon the availability of funds.

The deadline to submit the application is August 15th of each calendar year. The recipients of the scholarships will be announced at the NYTB Annual Meeting held in October each year. By accepting the scholarships, the names, photos and information regarding the recipients of the scholarships may be used in NYTB publications, advertisements and/or public relations material. Additionally, recipients may be requested to submit an article regarding their experience to the NYTB for use in NYTB publications, advertisements and/or public relations materials.
